QBA Meeting with H.E. Ali Bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Trade and Industry
The Qatari Businessmen Association was honored to host His Excellency Mr. Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuwari, Minister of Trade and Industry at QBA headquarter.
The visit aims at reinforcing communication with the Qatari business community and Qatari businessmen, exchanging views and informing them of the ministry's initiatives that are put in the service of the national economy and its development
The meeting was headed by H.E. Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim al Thani, QBA Chairman, and also attended by Mr. Hussein Al Fardan, QBA First Deputy and QBA Secretary General Mr. Issa Abu Issa, also from QBA Board members Sheikh Hamad Bin Faisal, Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser, Mr. Sherida Al Kaabi, Mr. Saud al Mana. From QBA Members, Mr. Nasser Al Haider, Mr. Khaled al Mannai, Mr. Nabil Abu Issa, Mr. Ashraf Abu Issa, Sheikh Mohamed bin Faisal, Sheikh Faisal Bin Fahad, Mr. Maqbool Khalfan, Mr. Ramez al Khyat, Mr. Mohamed Althaf, Mr. Hamad al Hedfa and Mr. Ihsan al Khiyami all attended the meeting.
Also, Sheikh Turki bin Faisal, Mr. Abdulsalam Abu Issa, Sheikh Nasser bin Nawaf and Ms. Sarah Abdallah QBA Deputy GM attended the meeting
The meeting started with QBA Chairman and Members thanking his Excellency the Minister for this visit and the importance of joint and close cooperation between the public and private sectors to serve the national economy. They also discussed the effective economic initiatives of various policies, legislation and projects that were put into effect under the guidance of his Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Emir of the State of Qatar, which all aimed at empowering national institutions and encouraging businessmen to penetrate the industrial sector. These initiatives were adopted by the Qatari government led by His Excellency Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, through its ministries. Several legislations were issued, such as the new investment law, the Free Zones Authority, the Single Window, Storage areas, etc., all of which secures the appropriate infrastructure to develop national production and achieve Self-sufficiency. As for The Ministry of Trade and Industry, its role was very significant and distinguished by the speedy implementation and interaction with the needs of the business community
From his part, The Minister thanked QBA Chairman and members for their welcome, stressing the importance of the Qatari Businessmen Association and the role of the business community in promoting Qatar as a center for investment in the region and attracting investors and expertise through economic activities led by The Association, such as conferences, workshops and its cooperation with equivalent business & economic institutions and associations in most of the Markets around the world and the delegations led by Qatari businessmen to foreign markets, which contribute to introducing the Qatari market and opening horizons of cooperation with global markets
His Excellency also added that the development of the private sector in developed countries is a main indicator of the development of the state and a key driver of economic development, adding that Qatari economic institutions and companies have become globally competitive and exist in major European and American markets through successful investments that have served the goals of developing the national economy and transferring expertise and knowledge to the local market
For their part, QBA members also discussed many economic ideas and aspirations with His Excellency the Minister, all of which aim to enhance the role of the Qatari private sector and facilitate its work, and a number of initiatives have been agreed upon, most notably the establishment of a follow-up committee between the Ministry and the Qatari Businessmen Association, that will become a direct communication channel to discuss economic initiatives and to facilitate joint cooperation in a way that helps in the implementation of the programs and initiatives undertaken by the Ministry and its proper delivery to the business community
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al Thani presented QBA honorary shield to His Excellency the Minister, wishing him all the success in serving and thriving the National Economy
