QBA Members attended


The Qatari Businessmen Association held a meeting with a delegation of German companies specialized in civil security technologies and services, in the presence of H.E Dr. Claudius Fischbach, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Qatar. The meeting was headed by Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani, chairman of the Qatari Businessmen Association. The visit aims at enhancing cooperation in the field of information and communications technology, and to discuss the existing cooperation opportunities between companies in Qatar and their counterparts in Germany.
From QBA, the meeting was attended by Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, QBA Board member. From QBA members, Mr. Omar Al-Fardan, Mr. Khalid Al-Mannai, Mr. Ibrahim Al-Jaidah, Mr. Abdul Salam Issa Abu Issa, Mr. Maqbool Habib Khalfan, Mr. Muhammad Al-Rabban, Mr. Ihsan Al-Khiyami, Mr. Muhammad Althaf attended the meeting as well as Ms. Sarah Abdullah, QBA Deputy GM.
Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani began the meeting by welcoming the German companies for this meeting, confirming the strength of the Qatari-German relations, stressing out the importance of cooperation between the two sides and expressing the openness of the Qatari Businessmen Association to discuss Qatari-German investment opportunities. Sheikh Faisal also added during `the discussion that this visit is very important in introducing German SMEs working in the civil security technologies and the service industry, to the Qatari market and give them the opportunity to obtain detailed insights and business contacts with local partners in Qatar.
For his side, Ambassador Dr. Claudius Fischbach welcomed the delegation and expressed his pleasure that for the first time since the outbreak of the Covid pandemic, a German trade mission was able to visit Doha in person. He highlighted that the civil security technologies and service sector they represent; is one of the most relevant for Qatar especially in the preparation of the FIFA world cup, Qatar therefore is a promising target market for German companies in this regard.

H.E. also showed confidence that the objective of the visit would be achieved, namely, to learn about recent developments in the sector and connect with important stakeholders in order to expand their business into the local market

During the meeting, German companies presented a brief overview about their companies, and the sectors in which they operate including the business software for security companies, consulting for companies operating in the firefighting technology industry, cyber security engineering and technology, information security management, smart security technology, privacy and data protection, sensors and radars.

From his side, Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser, QBA board member pointed out the importance of the German government in supporting these companies when penetrating new markets, especially that the SMEs are considered the most affected since the beginning of the pandemic. Sheikh Nawaf also spoke about Qatar’s investment in the digitalization of the country and thus also in the development of cybercrime, especially in the area of the highly developed FinTech and Sport Tech scene in Qatar, as well as for the well-developed digital infrastructure of the Qatari public sector.
During the meeting, QBA members stressed out the openness of the Qatari market to investment and partnership, especially with Germany, as the two countries have strong ties, as a result of which Qatar encourages the entry of German small and medium-sized companies into the Qatari market and affirmed their willingness to support them as potential partners.
QBA members also presented the activities carried out by QBA to support and develop the Qatari private sector and promote partnerships with various countries. They also expressed the importance of Germany as a major industrial country in which Qatar can benefit from its expertise. They highlighted the need for cooperation in various fields, with a focus now on services and projects that would support Qatar in Preparing for the 2022 World Cup.
