Meeting with Swedish Business Delegation
The Qatari Businessmen Association organized a meeting with a delegation of Swedish businessmen that included Mr. Max Bjuhr, Ambassador of Trade and Promotion MENA Region, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Cherif Sayed, Business Sweden Vice President, Head of Middle East & Africa and Mr. Lennart Killander, Director of Trade Promotion, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the presence of H.E. Ms. Ewa Polano, Ambassador of Sweden to Doha
The meeting was attended by representatives from the biggest Swedish companies in various sectors such as Information Technology and communication, Automotive, shipping and logistical services
From the Qatari Businessmen Association, the meeting was attended by Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, QBA Chairman, Mr. Hussein Al Fardan, QBA First Deputy Chairman, Sheikh Hamad Bin Faisal Bin Thani Al Thani, QBA Board Member and QBA members; Mr. Mohamed Khaled Al Rabban, Mr. Maqbool Khalfan, and Mr. Wassim Al Daiaa, Dallah Group CEO attended on behalf of QBA Member Mr. Rashid Al Nuaimi, as well as Ms. Sarah Abdullah, QBA Deputy General Manager.
Ambassador Eva Polaño thanked the members of the Qatari Businessmen Association for the meeting and stated that Sweden has achieved a high level of security and well-being conditions, following the remarkable development of its economy, and has been able to build a knowledge based economy based on modern research and technology, H.E. also confirmed that her country is keen to develop the economic cooperation with Qatar, which has many advantages and promising investment opportunities in many areas. She also added that the ways of cooperation with Qatar may include the areas of innovation and scientific research and the use of technology in cities and construction of major projects implemented by Qatar to develop the infrastructure and preparations for 2022 FIFA World Cup.
on his part, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani welcomed the Ambassador and her accompanying delegation, stressing on the need to discuss the potential partnership and cooperation opportunities between the different Qatari and Swedish organizations especially in the private sector, he also added that Qatar is witnessing a comprehensive renaissance in all fields. It also seeks to transform the economy from an economy based on oil and gas to an economy based on knowledge, technology and sustainability
Mr. Max Bjuhr, Ambassador of trade and promotion at the Swedish Ministry of Foreign affairs also spoke about the opportunities and projects that Swedish companies are currently implementing in Qatar and which cover different sectors such as renewable energy, recycling, water treatment, food security and environmentally friendly vehicles, as well as health care. Mr. Max also mentioned Some of the most important Swedish companies such as Volvo, Ericsson and Vattenfall, Scania, Ikea and Nordea.
Mr. Hussein Al-Fardan, QBA first deputy chairman expressed his pleasure for having this meeting and praised the economic relations between the two countries especially in the field of cars and vehicles that are environmentally friendly, he also called for the need to strengthen trade cooperation between the two countries.
For his part, Sheikh Hamad Bin Faisal Al-Thani stressed on the importance of exchanging visits and trade delegations between the businessmen of both countries, he also called for the development of cooperation in the tourism Sector, especially since Qatar has become an important destination for tourism in the region, as well as the need to encourage Qataris to visit the Kingdom of Sweden and enjoy nature picturesque
At the end of the meeting, Sheikh Faisal Bin Qassim Al Thani, QBA Chairman Presented QBA Crystal Shield to H.E. Ms. Ewa Polano, Swedish Ambassador to Doha.
