QBA Hosts A Special Visit By Bahrain Businessmen Association

Qatari Businessmen Association prepared and organized an  agenda for the two-days visit of a special delegation from Bahrain Businessmen’s Association (BBA). The visit comes along with QBA’s initiatives to develop the private sector role in the current economic growth in light of HH the Emir’s vision towards upgrading the capabilities of the private sector.

On arrival, the visiting delegation of Bahrain Businessmen’s Association was invited to a special dinner that took place in Mr. Issa Abdul Salam Abu Issa’s house, QBA’s Secretary General on Saturday, December 18, 2004. The dinner was attended by Sheikh Hamad bin Faisal Al-Thani, Former Minister of Trade, Dr. Hamad bin Abdul Aziz Al Kawary, former Minister of information, Mr. abdul Aziz Al Khulaify, former Undersecretary of Ministry of Economy, Mr. Mohamed Khalid Al Mana, Chairman of Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry and a group of Qatari business leaders.

The dinner brought forward negotiations regarding increasing the Qatari-Bahraini business cooperation and integration and promoting investment opportunities between the two countries.

On the following day, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatari Premier has held a special meeting with the visiting members of BBA in his office at The Diwan Amiri, on Sunday, December 19, 2004. The meeting addressed different economic aspects such as increasing the Qatari-Bahraini business cooperation and integration and promoting investment opportunities between the two countries.

Prior to this meeting, Mr. Abdullah Hamad Al-Atiyya, Second Deputy Premier and Minister of Energy and Industry held a meeting with the Bahraini business delegation, during which the Bahraini businessmen had a closer look to potential business opportunities available in many economic sectors in Qatar.

Following the two meetings, Qatari Businessmen Association has hosted BBA’s delegation at their premises

The reception initiated the signature of a bi-lateral business cooperation agreement, which aims to increase the Qatari-Bahraini business integration and promote investment opportunities among the two countries. Furthermore, Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al-Thani, Chariman QBA has handed-over a complimentary silver plate to Mr. Khalid Al Moayed, Chairman of BBA to represent a memorial symbol for the event of signing the agreement and to appreciate BBA’s visit and efforts for bringing this agreement into force. Next to the agreement ceremony, QBA has organized a luncheon for the members of Bahrain Businessmen’s Association at the Diplomatic Club.

At evening, Sheikh Faisal bin Qasim Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatari Businessmen Association, has organized a special dinner for the delegation of Bahrain Businessmen’s Association at his Majlis. Prior to the dinner, QBA organized a visit for the Bahraini delegation to Sheikh Faisal’s museum/farm, which included a tour for all the museum sections. BBA’s members were interested by the museum’s collections and had some photos all around place.

On Monday, December 20, 2004, The Ministry of Energy and Industry has organized a visit for the delegation of Bahrain Businessmen’s Association to Ras Lafan Industrial city. The visit, which took place upon a request made by Qatari Businessmen Association, started with a site-seeing tour for the different areas of Ras Laffan’s port with presentation on its future expansions plan. Following that, the delegation met Mr. Hamad Al Baker, COO of Qatar Gas, who welcomed them and demonstrated another presentation about Qatar Gas activities and scope of work. Qatar Gas also hosted a luncheon for the delegation during the visit. BBA’s members were impressed by the advanced technology used in Ras Laffan projects.

During the whole visit, Bahrain Businessmen’s Association members have declared their appreciation to the strategic vision of HH the Emir in leading Qatar to become a solid emerging economy. They also have appreciated the pioneer role QBA is playing to develop the private sector and support more economic integration between Qatar and other countries.
