QBA Chairman meets with CEO Ghana Investment Promotion Centre

QBA chairman, Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al Thani met Mr. R. Yofi Grant, the CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Center, on the sidelines of his visit to Doha to promote investment projects and discuss ways to develop bilateral relations

At the beginning of the meeting, HE Sheikh Faisal welcomed Mr. Grant and his visit, which aims at discussing the means of trade and investment cooperation, confirming its importance in opening bridges of communication and developing relations between Qatar and Ghana. Sheikh Faisal also expressed Qatar's interest in the African market, stressing that the visit of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to a number of African countries last year, is the best proof of this interest

from his part, Mr. Grant expressed his pleasure to have this meeting, stressing on the fact that the Government of Ghana is focusing now on creating a stable economy that attracts all foreign investments to the country and that Ghana's private sector welcomes its partnership with its counterpart in Qatar.

Mr. Yofi also presented Ghana's trade and investment opportunities in various fields, especially in the agriculture and energy sectors. He explained that Ghana is an agricultural country and one of the major producers of cocoa and bananas, as well as a major exporter of crops such as mango and pineapple, while importing their rice and sugar from some countries such as China and Brazil. He added that Ghana has vast areas of agricultural land suitable for agriculture and not yet exploited, which represents a good opportunity for bilateral cooperation where Qatari businessmen can invest in agriculture or raising livestock projects and then export to Qatar

As for the energy sector, Mr. Yofi talked about the important investment projects in the field of renewable energy, especially clean hydropower and the energy sector in general, as Ghana produces 200,000 barrels of oil per day, knowing that the State is working to increase this figure to reach one million barrels

For his part, Sheikh Faisal was interested in learning more about the tourism sector in Ghana, when Mr. Yofi presented some investment opportunities in this sector, mentioning that there are 240 acres on the river could be used for this purpose.

Sheikh Faisal also stressed the keenness of the State of Qatar in its open policy to develop its relations with various countries, including Ghana, and stressed the interest of Qatari businessmen in identifying and benefiting from the investment opportunities available. He pointed out that Qatari businessmen are open to investment projects that can add value to their business

At the end of this meeting, Mr. Yofi Grant thanked Sheikh Faisal, and invited him to visit Ghana and explore the economic environment closely and learn more about the potential investment opportunities the country is offering
