On
19 February 2012 Mr. Moataz El Rafie assumed the position of CEO of Ahli
Bank. He succeeds Mr. Salah Murad who held this position since February
2009. During Mr. Murad’s tenure the Bank witnessed remarkable progress
and development and achieved excellent financial results.
Mr. Moataz El Rafie is a seasoned banking professional with over three
decades of banking experience in the region. Before joining Ahli Bank he
served Boubyan Bank, Kuwait in the capacity of General Manager,
Corporate Banking and Treasury. He joined Boubyan Bank from National
Bank of Kuwait where he was the General Manager of the Strategic
Planning and Business Development Group.
Mr. El Rafie started his professional career in 1976 with Commercial
International Bank (formerly Chase Bank), Egypt where he held several
leading positions in various departments of the Bank.
Mr. El Rafie holds a Bachelor’s
Degree in Business Administration from Cairo University. He is also a
Chartered Financial Analyst, CFA.

“The socio-economic development that
Qatar is presently witnessing, thanks to the wise policy and prudent
guidance of the Qatari leadership, have motivated all the business
segments in Qatar, especially the banks to upgrade their performances
and services in line with the ongoing development process in order to
effectively contribute to the unprecedented growth that the country is
experiencing.” Mr. El Rafie said after assuming the position of CEO.
“As the CEO of Ahli Bank, my focus will be on implementing a strategy in
collaboration with Ahli United Bank, our strategic partner, with the aim
of enhancing our financial resources and competitiveness in order to
play a more active role in the advancement of the national economy and
achieve the best possible results for our shareholders, customers and
employees.” he said in conclusion. |
